Tom McKibbin tees it up at this week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth carrying momentum and confidence from his previous two DP World Tour tournaments.

At The Belfry in late August, he led after a first round 68 at the Husqvarna British Masters, eventually finishing a strong T6 with a -10 total. Highlight of the week was his 231 yard second shot approach to the par 5 17th on Sunday that grazed the hole for an albatross two and finished just inches away for a tap-in eagle.

It was more of the same last week at the Amgen Irish Open. Tom’s composed, unflappable character came to the fore in stormy, often wet conditions, securing a fantastic T5 finish at Trump International Golf Links, Doonbeg.

Wentworth’s West is one of Tom’s favourite courses and the Tour’s flagship event is somewhere he has performed well. Last year’s T11 finish on -14 under being the perfect case in point, a result that will definitely add to his momentum when he tees off on Thursday morning alongside Irish legend, Padraig Harrington. If he needed a further boost to his confidence, comments at last week’s Amgen Irish Open by two-time major winner, Jon Rahm will help. “Tom’s got all the tools to win a major, and I hope he does someday. Technically, very few people are better than him.”
