When Jordan Gumberg joined Abbotswood earlier this year we rounded off his profile piece with these prophetic words: ‘We are delighted to welcome Jordan to Abbotswood and cannot wait to see what drama unfolds in 2026.’
Well, we didn’t have to wait long as just a month or so later in mid-March Jordan won the DP World Tour’s Hainan Classic in style at Mission Hills, China. Jordan shot a final round 70 for a -19 total to edge seasoned Spaniard, Jorge Campillo by a shot.
It is Jordan’s second DP World Tour title after winning the 2024 SDC Championship in South Africa. He told us his latest victory felt unreal,especially after keeping his tour card last season by holing out for eagle on the 18th in the final round at the Genesis Championship to secure his place on the tour for 2026.
‘It’s incredible,’ Jordan said in his Hainan Classic winners’ press conference, although it could also apply to his previous 12 months’ play. To paraphrase our previous piece, we can’t wait to see what other incredible results unfold in 2026. Hopefully those parting words will work the same magic as before.
